The new 2015 specification R&G Race Series Engine Case Covers range have been track proven to offer race teams the maximum protection in case of a crash. They are currently widely used across the MCE British Superbike Championship paddock, most notably by Team WD-40, Riders BMW, RAF Reserves and Morello Racing.
Having been specifically developed in collaboration with selected MCE British Superbike Championship teams and during the TriStar R&G Triple Challenge (2014), R&G’s Race Series Engine Case Covers have been crash tested at the highest level, ensuring they meet and exceed the required standards for case protection. R&G’s entire range of Engine Case Covers (ECCs) and Engine Case Cover Kits (KECs) have been approved by the British Superbike Championship and the American Motorcycling Association for use in any competition sanctioned by these organisations. Crucially both the ‘Race’ and standard covers are available in kit format, saving costs all through the life of the unit as replacement parts can be ordered separately.
The new 2015 specification Race Series Case Covers have been specially developed at the request of the race teams and include a replaceable puck on the impact face. This new puck not only further enhances the protection offered by a standard R&G Engine Case Cover by providing more material to ‘grind through’ but also offers an easy, low-cost fix in the case of a minor slide, as it can be replaced and the cover used again and again.
The ultra-lightweight Race Series Case Covers are crafted from 4mm polypropylene, offering strength and durability, while the slimline design ensures maximum ground clearance. Simply bolting on over the original engine casing, the Race Series Case covers are easy to install and require no adhesives, silicone or epoxies.
The Race Series covers are used extensively across the BSB paddock and beyond, with Team WD-40, Riders BMW, RAF Reserves, Morello Racing, MWR Kawasaki, NMT No Limits Kawasaki and True Heroes Racing all using the cover, alongside riders Adam Jenkinson, Freddy Pett, Levi Day, Sam Coventry, Luke Shelley and Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness. Every machine in the Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup is also fitted with R&G Race Series Case Covers.
The current eligible machines for the R&G Race Series Case Covers include the Suzuki GSX-R1000, Triumph Daytona 675, Honda CBR1000 RR, Kawasaki ZX-6R and ZX-10R, BMW S1000RR, KTM RC 390 and Yamaha YZF-R1, with more variants in development.
R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett commented “Our Race Series Case Covers have been specifically developed at the highest level of racing to ensure maximum protection in case of a crash. The cost of replacing an engine casing or removing debris from an engine is an expense that race teams do not need, so our new 2015 specification allows them to quickly replace the puck in case of a small crash, whilst offering full protection in case of a larger one.”
Brent Gladwin, Team WD40 Owner said, “Unfortunately we’ve had our fair share of crashes this year, but thanks to the R&G crash protection on our machines, the damage has been minimal. The best example of the Race Series Case Covers doing their job perfectly was at Oulton Park recently, when Tarran Mackenzie crashed his Stauff Connect Academy Kawasaki during the race. Despite heavy impact and sliding down the tarmac for some 150 yards at high speed, the engine suffered no damage at all – which, along with the rest of the R&G items on our bike, meant we were able to walk away from a potentially expensive crash with nothing more than some broken fairings!”
