2015 SPECIFICATION R&G RACE SERIES ENGINE CASE COVERS OFFER MAXIMUM PROTECTION

The new 2015 specification R&G Race Series Engine Case Covers range have been track proven to offer race teams the maximum protection in case of a crash. They are currently widely used across the MCE British Superbike Championship paddock, most notably by Team WD-40, Riders BMW, RAF Reserves and Morello Racing.

Having been specifically developed in collaboration with selected MCE British Superbike Championship teams and during the TriStar R&G Triple Challenge (2014), R&G’s Race Series Engine Case Covers have been crash tested at the highest level, ensuring they meet and exceed the required standards for case protection. R&G’s entire range of Engine Case Covers (ECCs) and Engine Case Cover Kits (KECs) have been approved by the British Superbike Championship and the American Motorcycling Association for use in any competition sanctioned by these organisations. Crucially both the ‘Race’ and standard covers are available in kit format, saving costs all through the life of the unit as replacement parts can be ordered separately.

The new 2015 specification Race Series Case Covers have been specially developed at the request of the race teams and include a replaceable puck on the impact face. This new puck not only further enhances the protection offered by a standard R&G Engine Case Cover by providing more material to ‘grind through’ but also offers an easy, low-cost fix in the case of a minor slide, as it can be replaced and the cover used again and again.

The ultra-lightweight Race Series Case Covers are crafted from 4mm polypropylene, offering strength and durability, while the slimline design ensures maximum ground clearance. Simply bolting on over the original engine casing, the Race Series Case covers are easy to install and require no adhesives, silicone or epoxies.

The Race Series covers are used extensively across the BSB paddock and beyond, with Team WD-40, Riders BMW, RAF Reserves, Morello Racing, MWR Kawasaki, NMT No Limits Kawasaki and True Heroes Racing all using the cover, alongside riders Adam Jenkinson, Freddy Pett, Levi Day, Sam Coventry, Luke Shelley and Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness. Every machine in the Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup is also fitted with R&G Race Series Case Covers.

The current eligible machines for the R&G Race Series Case Covers include the Suzuki GSX-R1000, Triumph Daytona 675, Honda CBR1000 RR, Kawasaki ZX-6R and ZX-10R, BMW S1000RR, KTM RC 390 and Yamaha YZF-R1, with more variants in development.

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett commented “Our Race Series Case Covers have been specifically developed at the highest level of racing to ensure maximum protection in case of a crash. The cost of replacing an engine casing or removing debris from an engine is an expense that race teams do not need, so our new 2015 specification allows them to quickly replace the puck in case of a small crash, whilst offering full protection in case of a larger one.”

Brent Gladwin, Team WD40 Owner said, “Unfortunately we’ve had our fair share of crashes this year, but thanks to the R&G crash protection on our machines, the damage has been minimal. The best example of the Race Series Case Covers doing their job perfectly was at Oulton Park recently, when Tarran Mackenzie crashed his Stauff Connect Academy Kawasaki during the race. Despite heavy impact and sliding down the tarmac for some 150 yards at high speed, the engine suffered no damage at all – which, along with the rest of the R&G items on our bike, meant we were able to walk away from a potentially expensive crash with nothing more than some broken fairings!”

R&G becomes an MCE British Superbikes Official Sponsor

Partner Button_R&G

R&G has become the official crash protection supplier to the 2015 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship as part of multi-structured deal with MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR).

Founded in 1999, Hampshire-based R&G quickly became the leading manufacturer of crash protection products for motorcycles, thanks to its innovative designs and model-bespoke fitments. During these 16 years, the Company has expanded into products that defend a motorcycle from damage caused from everyday riding, as well as offering a huge range of bike-related accessories.

In addition to becoming the official crash protection supplier: R&G will have a massively increased presence within MCE BSB, supporting riders and teams with a race paddock service, ACU discount, amplified branding in and around the circuits, more televised coverage, and the introduction of the R&G Newcomers Trophy. Spectators will also be able to take advantage of a dedicated retail shop at each round.

The agreement with MSVR also extends to MSV Trackdays (MSVT), with R&G products being used on the instructors’ bikes and promoted at the events.

MCE BSB Series Director, Stuart Higgs, said: “R&G is a recognised and award-winning brand, focused on protecting motorcycles, ultimately saving riders money, and I’m really excited that we’ve been able to increase our working relationship within the MCE British Superbike Championship and also to cover MSV Trackdays.

“The cost of racing is never likely to drastically reduce, but we’ve seen many times that fitting top quality, strategically-placed protection can make a huge difference to a bike in a crash and reduce delays caused by oil spillages, particularly on track days.”

R&G Managing Director, Simon Hughes, said: “I’m delighted to reach this deal with MSVR and for R&G to become more closely aligned with such a prestigious championship that reflects the same values as our brand. Racing is at the core of R&G and a large part of how we develop our expanding product ranges. We’ve always invested back into the sport and this agreement with MSVR should only help to reinforce that.

Secondary engine covers are a mandatory product at MCE BSB, to help prevent oil contaminating the track from a crashed bike, potentially causing further incidents. R&G’s Engine Case Covers were approved for use in all classes within the Championship in 2014 and were exclusively used by every bike competing the 2014 TriStar R&G Triple Challenge, as well as being trusted by Team WD-40 and Gearlink Kawasaki, among many others.

R&G will also be announcing its sponsored teams and riders for the 2015 season in both national and worldwide championships in due course.

Damage protection leader continues its discount scheme for ACU, SACU and MCUI racers

www.rg-racing.com

  • 15% discount on R&G products for the 2015 racing season
  • Open to all riders with a 2015 ACU, SACU or MCUI licence
  • Multiple products and repeat orders allowed
  • Includes BSB-approved Engine Case Covers

R&G is offering all ACU, SACU and MCUI motorcycle race licence holders 15% discount on its products for the 2015 racing season.

In 2014, R&G celebrated 15 years of creating innovative motorcycle protection products and is a long-time supporter and sponsor of racing; from grassroots to professional level. The Alton-based crash protection specialist launched its race discount offer at the start of this year as part of the Company’s greatly increased involvement in motorcycle sport, both in the UK and abroad.

Along with becoming co-title sponsor of the Tristar R&G Triple Challenge and ‘Official Crash Protection Supplier’ to British Superbikes, with a dedicated Support Service at each round in 2014, R&G products helped protect and enhance the machines of many teams and riders in the BSB and Club racing paddocks, such as Quattro Plant Kawasaki, Anvil Hire TAG Racing, Team WD-40, Gearlink Kawasaki and True Heroes Racing.

Once 2015 licences are provided from the ACU, SACU and MCUI, riders need to approach R&G direct to obtain the 15% discount. When placing an order, racers need to show a copy of their licence and detail the machine and series they are competing in. Products for multiple bikes of different types won’t be permitted, but multiple items for the same racing machine and repeat orders are allowed.

Popular products used for protecting race bikes include award-winning Aero Crash Protectors to guard frames, Engine Case Covers (mandatory in BSB) to stop engines being punctured and leaking oil on track, carbon/Kevlar ® Tank Sliders to save the exposed edges on a fuel tank and Radiator Guards to prevent holing from stones and rubber marbles.

R&G also produces mandatory products for racing, such as Toe Guards/Sharks Fins, and other key items, such as Aero Knee Sliders, Elevation series’ Paddock Stands and the recently-introduced Eazi-Grip™ Tank Traction Pads.

Alan Garrett, R&G UK Sales Manager, said: “Racing is very much at the heart of R&G. We use racing to help develop our products in the toughest of environments, as well as to promote them, but for riders and teams using R&G, it can mean the difference between winning or packing up for the weekend. We’ve continued the Race Discount Scheme so that more riders can benefit from R&G’s 15 years of experience in motorcycle damage prevention.

R&G TRIPLE CHALLENGE RETURNS FOR EMOTIONAL FINAL ROUND

TRISTAR TCC LOGO IDEAS-12 copy
14th October 2014 – After eight seasons of intense competition, the TriStar R&G Triple Challenge will come to an emotional conclusion at Brands Hatch this weekend.
Freddy Pett joined the established list of past Champions when he wrapped up the 2014 title a round early at Silverstone while Sam Thompson enjoys a 49.5 point advantage in the Cup class, with just 50 points remaining.
It has been an incredible season for Freddy Pett, taking seven wins so far this season and finishing off the podium on just three occasions. After finishing runner up in 2013, a brace of second places at the high speed Silverstone circuit two weeks ago was enough to secure the 2014 TriStar R&G Triple Challenge. It was second place Scott Pitchers who took victory in the opening Silverstone race while Young Gun victor Tom Carne secured his second win of the season in the final.

In the Cup class, Sam Thompson has dominated the second half of the season taking an impressive ten victories to enjoy a 49.5 point advantage at the top of the Championship standings. With just 50 points left remaining, it will take a disaster for the young rider to lose the Cup title. At Silverstone it was 17 year old Scottish rider Max Alexander who doubled up on wins as he continues to end the season strongly.

As one of the most iconic circuits in the country, the Brands Hatch GP track is an undulating mix of fast flowing corners and is a firm favourite amongst fans and riders alike. Last year it was Phil Atkinson and Scott Pitchers who shared the victories, however with the weekends two races being the last ever in the TriStar R&G Triple Challenge, everyone will be going out to secure the final wins.
T3 Racing owner and series organiser Tony Scott said, “It’s certainly going to be an emotional farewell for the TriStar R&G Triple Challenge this weekend. Freddy Pett is a deserved champion and it was great to see him secure the title last time out, he’ll now have the pressure removed and will be going all out at Brands Hatch but there’s a lot of riders on the grid who’ll want the accolade of winning the final ever Triple Challenge races.”
The TriStar R&G Triple Challenge utilises the hospitality of the world renowned Ace Cafe London, teaming up with the cafe at each of the nine MCE British Superbike events providing exclusive hospitality across all three days of the event. Guests are able to enjoy a full English breakfast upon their arrival and selected hot specialties from the Ace menu for lunch. Drinks and refreshments are also available throughout the day.

TriStar R&G Triple Challenge leader Freddy Pett dominated proceedings at Cadwell Park, setting a new lap record and taking both race wins. Excellent Ulster GP meeting for R&G-supported Peter Hickman

Peter Hickman on his way to becoming the fastest ever newcomer at the Ulster GP
Peter Hickman on his way to becoming the fastest ever newcomer at the Ulster GP

Peter Hickman overcame a spill at Wheeler’s on the opening lap of Thursday morning’s Superstock qualifying session to be back out in time for the Dundrod 150 races later in the day and he opened his account with a stunning seventh in the Superbike. Riding the Superstock BMW, his fastest lap of 131.198mph comfortably made him the fastest ever rider around the 7.4-mile circuit and using the same bike, he then won the National Challenge race by over 20 seconds with yet more 130mph+ laps.

Saturday’s action saw the Ulster Grand Prix races held in much less favourable conditions with drizzle and strong winds affecting everyone. Louth rider Hickman was undeterred though and took two more excellent results in the feature Superbike and Superstock races with a brace of fifths the outcome. It also meant he was awarded the ‘Best Newcomer’ trophy, just as he had done at the Isle of Man TT and North West 200 meetings earlier this season.

Peter Hickman: “It’s been another really good and enjoyable meeting for me and I’m delighted with the results and to pick up the ‘Best Newcomer’ award again. I made a bit of a mistake on Thursday and crashed out, making a real mess of the bike, but the team did wonders to get me back out in time for the races whilst Steve Hicken and Michael Dunlop helped me out with various parts. The bike felt exactly the same as it did before the crash and to get seventh and lap at more than 131mph in the Dundrod 150 race was really pleasing given the state the bike was in a few hours earlier.”

“It was a lot tougher on Saturday with the poor weather, which was unfortunate for everyone, as it made both riding and tyre choice tricky. I was over the moon with a pair of fifths though, especially in the Superbike race, and I’ve really enjoyed my first time at Dundrod. Shoey and the whole team have been mega and they did a mint job all week so it’s nice to repay them with some good results.”
